"Un linguaggio diverso è una diversa visione della vita" - Federico Fellini

“A different language is a different vision of life.”

Learning to communicate in another language is a challenging and rewarding experience. In our increasingly interconnected world, an ability to interact with people and cultures other than our own is an important skill to prepare young children in becoming understanding and capable global citizens.

Students at Ashdale learn Italian through an engaging languages program. The students are taught to communicate in Italian as well as gain an understanding of Italian cultural practices. Building on their intercultural understanding supports the Ashdale ethos of respect for diversity and difference, encouraging openness to different experiences and perspectives.

Our Teaching and Learning program is aligned with the Western Australian Curriculum for Languages which has two strands: Communicating and Understanding. Emphasis is given to developing aural and oral skills through interactive tasks including singing, role-playing and games, along with the use of digital tools and story books in Italian.
