Principal’s Report
Dear Parents and Community Members,
Every two years, Ashdale Secondary College stages a musical production involving both students and staff. This year’s performance was Chicago. Our Year Six students were once again fortunate to be invited to the final dress rehearsal on Monday. I also had the pleasure of attending, and like the rest of the audience, I was in awe of the outstanding quality of the production. The dancing, singing, costumes, choreography, and music were all exemplary. Congratulations to the staff and students on delivering such a sophisticated and memorable show.
Speak-up Award
We are proud to announce that Year Six students Aarjav Kothari, Keerthi Kotha, and Ritaj Damirshi will be representing our school at the Speak-Up Awards on Monday, 18th August.
These three students were successful in our school-based competition, standing out among many very talented speakers. We wish them all the best as they represent our school at the next level.
Certificates of Excellence
Last week, Certificates of Excellence were sent home with students who achieved an overall A grade in a subject or who excelled in the Attitude, Behaviour, and Endeavour component of their reports.
At Ashdale Primary School, our motto is “School of Excellence”, and these certificates recognise excellence not only in achievement but also in attitude.
Regards
Tony Watson
2025 Athletics Faction Carnival
It’s Faction Carnival time again! Perkins, Freeman, Elliott and Cooper will once again compete for Ashdale's Faction Shield.
Ashdale’s week of athletics will commence with events on Tuesday 26th August, while the grand carnival day will be held on Friday, 29th August. Fingers crossed for good weather and come along to cheer your children and support your faction.
As Carnival Day is a very busy day for students and teachers, we ask that parents of students in years PP to 6 please refrain from entering competition and bay areas during the day.
Students should come to school fully prepared to be self-sufficient until lunch time. During the lunch break, students will be allowed to leave the competition areas and sit with family until the end of the lunch period at which time they are to promptly return to their faction bay.
If students are required to leave school early, parents will need to follow standard school policy by signing students out at the office and then present the teacher supervising their child with a pink slip before the student can be released.

School Board News
This week’s School Board meeting provided a number of interesting updates from across the school. The community is embracing the new Spriggy canteen ordering system, with feedback helping smooth early challenges and build a better experience for families. Financial reports show the school is tracking well against budget projections, and the recent Telethon-sponsored Bullying Workshop for Years 3–5 was especially impactful—teachers and students shared praise for the clarity and conversation it sparked around respectful relationships.
Principal Tony Watson and Board Chair Arlene, recently connected with Landsdale MLA Daniel Pastorelli, who showed real interest in Ashdale’s progress and community spirit. Planning for the 2026–2028 Strategic Plan is in motion, with a focus on the six key areas from the School Accountability Framework. NAPLAN results for Years 3 and 5 arrived this week, Board members are looking forward to a presentation on these results at our next meeting. As always, we welcome parent voices—join us for the Open Community School Board Meeting on Monday 8th September 6.30pm-8pm and be part of the conversation shaping our school’s future.
