Principal’s Report
Dear Parents and Community Members,
We are well and truly into Term 3 with so many things happening across our school.
Athletics
As parents and students particularly would be well aware, our athletics season is upon us with our school carnival events happening in week 6 and our interschool carnival in week 9, which will be held at Madeley Primary School. The athletics carnivals provide an opportunity for students to become immersed in the culture of sportsmanship and being part of a team. Belonging to a team and identifying with being a team member is such an important element of being successful and happy. This is the term where students really identify with our Factions: Perkins, Cooper, Freeman and Elliott. Ask any past student, and they’ll remember what faction they were in!
Charity Day
Ashdale Primary School recently held its annual charity Day and raised $970 for Uniting WA. The crazy hair day and fun lunchtime events, conducted by Year six students, dedicated parent volunteers and coordinated by Mr Mollett were such a success. Well done to all involved. Today, Friday 2nd August, Ashdale is a sea of Green and Gold as we support the efforts of our Olympic team competing in Paris. Gold coin funds raised from today’s green and gold dress up day will also go to Uniting WA.
Y safe presentations (online safety)
These sessions are so important for both parents and students and I urge all parents to get along and be further informed so they can support their children as they navigate the online world.
- Parent session – Monday 5th August 6.00pm at ASC
- Student session Years 4, 5 and 6 – Wednesday 7th August
Gelato experience
Our amazing Italian teaching team, Signorinas Brogna, Gunner and Leighton Harris have organized for a Gelato cart to visit our school on Tuesday 6th and Wednesday 7th August. The gelato is nut, egg and gelatine free, and students will practise their Italian language as part of the learning experience.
Year 6 transition
Our Year 6s are almost Year 7s! and will be attending their first transition day at Ashdale Secondary College on Tuesday 6th August. The students attend the whole day at the college and experience a typical timetabled Year 7 day. Year 6 parents need to get their child/ren to the college in the morning and arrange pick up in the afternoon.
Ninja Playground
Many parents will have seen (and maybe had a climb) on our new Ninja Playground. This was opened in the first week of term and is proving to be very popular with students of all sizes and ages as they challenge themselves and their friends, in conquering the various obstacles. At the moment year groups are rotating through the playground at break times, and this will continue in the short term.
This has been a great project for the school and our thanks go to the state government, our P&C and Calroc for their funding support.
Kind regards,
Randal Hoft
Principal
Maths Scavenger Hunt
Last term, in week 10, all students at Ashdale took part in a school-wide scavenger hunt focused on numeracy. It was amazing to see everyone having fun, using their mapping abilities, and collaborating to solve challenging math problems. Congratulations to all the students who stayed positive and showed excellent teamwork!

Book Donation Margaret Quirk
A big thank you to Margaret Quirk MLA, State Member for Landsdale who has recently donated several books to Ashdale Primary School.
Margaret has donated 3 popular fiction books with accompanying costume prop’s reflecting each book’s theme that can be used by our students for book week dress ups.
Margaret also attended and supported our Miyawaki Forest planting day and donated a beautifully illustrated non-fiction book all about trees and the forests they can be found in.
All these donated books are available in the library for students to borrow and enjoy.
